Governments meeting at COP25 must invest more in risk-reduction strategies and minimise the loss and damage experienced by poorer communities - now.
GNDR has joined the Risk-Informed Early Action Partnership (REAP), a global initiative to protect one billion people at-risk from extreme weather and climate-related disasters like floods, heatwaves and typhoons.
GNDR has contributed to bringing community voices to high level discussions, and “everyday disasters” onto the global agenda. GNDR’s consistent focus on global advocacy has yielded clear results, and the network is now recognised as a key player in DRR.
We are excited to share a couple of big announcements about the CBDRM project.
VFL 2019 is currently being rolled out, and one of the first countries to start survey collection has been the National Coordination Organisation (NCO) Manadisaster Organization in Rwanda. We spoke with the country legal representative of Manadisaster, Jean de Dieu Musengamana, about his experience with the programme so far.
The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is less than two months away, and here at GNDR preparations for the event are well underway.
