The GNDR Secretariat is celebrating the 2016 IDDR by publishing two blogs:
- We need more media coverage of disaster prevention:
aimed at journalists, Marcus Oxley appeals to media and civil society to work together to raise the profile of disaster prevention, as the best means of saving lives. - Where’s the cash for disaster risk reduction? Are our stories not convincing enough?:
aimed at donors and civil society, this thought piece raises the need to demonstrate the benefits of DRR with more than just impacting stories.
Thunderclap
The Secretariat also joined UNISDR in a massive Thunderclap raising awareness of the need to increase efforts in saving lives through prevention, so more and more people will #LiveToTell. The Secretariat was part of this social media collective action that gathered 299 supporters and had a social media reach of 21,129,574 individuals worldwide.
