Remoteness, lack of cellular network, no local doctor and no education after 6th grade - these factors are no hindrance for CBDRM to be effective in a local community, Samuel Peter from Habitat for Humanity India reports. He recently visited the small Philippenean community of San Ildefonso as a part of a CBDRM exchange program between India and the Philippines.

Communities in Luzon Island, Philippines, apply community-based disaster risk management (CBDRM) practices to prepare for yet another super typhoon.

Following the two first CBDRM learning exchanges in West Africa, Adessou Kossivi, GNDR's Regional Development Coordinator for West Africa writes on the multifaceted form resilience can take. 

"Our objective is to bring policies at grassroots level, we want comunities to directly channel their views with national policy makers" said Hepi Rahmawati, Programmes Manager at YAKKUM emergency Unit (YEU) an indonesian NGO working in disaster relief and community resilience. 

Programme Coordinator at the Center for Disaster Preparedness (CDP) in the Philippines, Jesusa Grace Molina is one force to reckon with. She has been coordinating GNDR's VFL Pilot in the country as well as leading CDP's Technical Services Programme.  

Get introduced to Tania Triminio, Head of the Cruz Verde Hondureña (Green Cross) in Honduras. Tania has been working vouluntarly for 15 years! In this interview she shares la Cruz Verde's vision and activities but also the challenges of bringing forward communities' voices. 

Following the second and last CBDRM learning exchange in Burkina Faso from 7th to 9th August, Ibra Cassis, Communications Officer at ENDA Energie  who was amongts the participants gives us a testimony of his valuable experience.

In this piece,  Ibra Cassis, Communications Officer at ENDA Energie Sénégal shares on the very first "Institutionalising CBDRM" learning exchange that took place in Niger at the end of July. Participants met with the community of Tillabéri to learn how  in two decades, they have restaured the Féri Féri Hill.
