Under the IDDR2015, we will be in Paysandú from Friday 16th October conducting a series of workshops as part of the project "Building Resilient Communities: education and participation for disaster risk reduction in Uruguay", with the support of UNESCO, SINAE, Cecoed Paysandú, MEC, MVOTMA and Plan Ceibal.
This project aims to perform different activities to promote education strategies and community participation, gender-sensitive, in the departments of Durazno, Paysandú and Montevideo, contributing to the knowledge of local risk management and to the development of community-based strategies for early warning and prevention against threats, such as floods, droughts and strong winds.
To this end, we will work with models of neighbourhood organizations, social and environmental NGOs, teachers and educators, and other stakeholders interested in and linked to these issues, in agreement with the local authorities. At the end of the workshops, there will be a day of closure where experiences and results obtained in the three departments will be shared.
