During the global event of COP22 in Marrakech, YEU was invited by the Women and Gender Constituency to receive the prize for “Gender Just Climate Solutions Award”. YEU project won the award in the Non-technical solution category with the project titles “Empowering Women’s Groups in Disaster Prone Areas through Community Based Sustainable Water Management”. The project is financially supported by GNDR and the Huairou Commission. The target area of the project is in the Temanggung District in the Central Java province, where GNDR also contributed through the programme Action at the Frontline (AFL) 2015/2016.
Helga Yohana Simatupang was at the COP22 and received the award on behalf of YEU. The winning project was showcased in page 17 of the Gender Just Climate Solutions Publication that was distributed during the COP22 and its website. The winning project also received EUR 1,000 donated by Women in Europe for Common Future (WECF) to scaling-up the impact in the community and monitoring-evaluation assistance for a year. YEU will have the initial discussion with WECF in January 2017 on the mechanisms and the implementation for scaling up.
