João Figueiredo is GNDR’s Regional Lead for the Americas and the Caribbean. He brings a unique blend of humanitarian architectural expertise and advanced knowledge in urban development, disaster risk management, and climate change adaptation.

With a degree in Architecture and Urbanism in Brazil and a Master’s in International Cooperation in Urban Development from TU-Darmstadt and UIC, João has effectively led diverse, high-impact projects across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa.

His work focuses on developing resilient infrastructures and communities through innovative, context-specific strategies that engage local stakeholders and promote sustainable development. His leadership is marked by a commitment to empowering communities and fostering collaborative relationships across sectors.
